"Rabia” translates to “rage”. This drawing was created during a period of protests and repression in Peru. I started this drawing with the main character on the right, uncertain about the rest of the blank paper. However, the rest came naturally. After finished, I observed that all the characters were women, each exhibiting exaggerated facial expressions of anger, sadness, and rebellion. The background features various parts of women's bodies, all symbolizing a sense of discomfort and suffering.

Choosing all female characters was intentional. Society often portrays women as delicate and protected by men. However, during the protests in Peru, many women traveled to Lima to fight for their rights. Some traveled for hours with their children because they felt compelled to voice their concerns about the injustices they saw. While the specific reasons for their fight might not be easy to understand for everyone, it's clear that something in the system isn't working for a portion of the population. I wanted to capture the resilience and determination of these women in this small drawing.
